TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Teaching Artist - Contemporary Arts Center  |  April 2019 - 2020 |  New Orleans, LA

As a guest educator I developed creative writing workshops with 4th and 5th grade students from Audubon and KIPP Charter Schools as a part of the Spring Artist Exchange education program. In an effort to coincide with the current exhibition at the CAC, we focused on the historical context of the usage of communicating through objects and symbols. Retained interest and maximize receptive learning by educating students utilizing hands-on instructional techniques by relating the topic to everyday encounters.

Music Theory and Violin Teacher - Make Music NOLA  |  September 2018 - 2020  |  New Orleans, LA

As the head of the music theory department I concentrate on teaching youth from ages 5-12 how to read and write music, music history and beginning violin technique. I create the music history curriculum in addition to  co-facilitating community outreach opportunities such as free access to live performances that explore beyond the limitations of what one thinks of classical music. I’m exceptional at producing accurate and up-to-date records and reports as required as well as organizing and maintaining books, learning materials and resources in preparation towards a comfortable learning environment.

Founder - Siren Violin Studio  |  est. 2013 - present

I founded this private violin and viola studio to create a space for people of all ages to dive into their musical abilities. I teach music theory and guide them in developing better technique which allow them to play any genre they’re interested in while simultaneously increasing their musical literacy. I also aid them in finding the best affordable instrument as well as teaching them how to care and clean for them. In addition, I organize cultural and educational trips and activities to enhance mental stimulation and social well-being.
